An Elegant Winter Wedding with Hometown Charm
This month, we’re revisiting this charming winter wedding celebrating Emily and Andrew! You might notice a few unique details in this blog, because spoiler alert, Emily is Lisa’s cousin.
The couple had so many ideas for what they wanted for their wedding- elegance, romance, a nod to their small town root. Thankfully, they trusted Lisa and the Belli Fiori team to understand their ideas and create a beautifully cohesive look.
For Emily, it was important for each of their many guests to feel like they were an active and special part of the couple’s celebration! She wanted the details to feel elegant, and the overall environment to be cozy and warm!
For the ceremony, the couple was married at their home church. Bundles of hydrangea and greenery were added down the aisle to match the large ceremony arrangements at the back of the altar. Cute wintery wreaths were hung on the church doors, to welcome guests as they made their way to their seats.
I cannot get enough of the flower girl with her quizzical expression and adorable dark green ribbon pomander with white spray roses- ahhhh!
Emily and Andrew had been together for almost ten years when they got married. The excitement at marrying her best friend was written all over Emily’s face!
The couple had decided long before their wedding day, that regardless of the weather they were going to go with the flow and have an amazing day.
For her bridesmaids, Emily chose emerald green floor length dresses and oatmeal colored shawls, embracing the tones of the season! The couple was lucky that the January chill was tolerable at ~50 degrees. Still, the shawls were an absolute must.
I love Emily’s rounded wintery bouquet with all of it’s texture. The white veronica and eucalyptus are so lovely against the white and ivory ranunculus, lisianthus and voluminous garden roses.
One thing I love about working with Lisa’s family is catching a glimpse into her family history. If you don’t know this about the owner of Belli Fiori, she is an absolute history nerd! She will frequently regale the team and me with the history about the neighborhoods and buildings throughout Saint Louis. So when choosing photos for this blog, I decided to include a little piece of her history. The vintage photo on the right is actually of Lisa’s grandparents (Emily’s great grandparents), Valeria and Francis. They married on November 4, 1939 at St. Anthony of Padua in Saint Louis, and family was everything to them. Lisa recalls spending almost every holiday with all of her cousins, as well as, her great aunts and uncles, and even her second cousins. Which really lent a lot of context to the love and energy that was felt throughout Emily and Andrew’s wedding celebration.
Emily selected organic arrangements of varying heights so that, according to her, “guests would have something beautiful to see wherever they looked.” She chose colors that were reminiscent of the January cold with bright white flowers, playful veronica and grayish-blue greenery. Her favorite centerpiece was the tall organic arrangements towering above the table on the vintage brass stands- “they were stunning.”
The night concluded with a sparkly send-off, but nothing compares to the glow of warmth between this adorable couple.
Emily & Andrew, thank you for sharing your special day with us, and happy anniversary!
