Love on Display: Your Wedding as Art

When we talk about weddings, we use many terms to describe them: events, momentous occasions, celebrations, and a special day. But what if the union of two souls through matrimony is ArT? This was the idea that inspired the creatives behind the photoshoot for the Spring/Summer Issue of Saint Louis Bride Magazine: Ethan Woods, Marianne Moore, Joyce Bogan, Rae Marcel and, of course, your Belli Fiori team. Art captures the experience of its creator and canonizes it for generations to come, not unlike the moments you and your betrothed share on your wedding day.

Your wedding can and should be considered a work of art. While there are many artists that take their turn putting their creative brush strokes on the overall vision of your wedding, it can be unique, thought-provoking, and conversation-rousing art. Watch how the vision begins to take life and become its own living, breathing work of ArT!

the Art of Color

Color is one of the most powerful tools in art, and in your wedding design. When you are selecting the colors for your union, it is important to consider the venue. For example, the styled shoot was photographed at the 21c Hotel Museum, “a 10-story Renaissance Revival-style YMCA building… with contemporary art around every corner.” The art is innovative, thought provoking and immersive. The Belli Fiori designers translated this vibe into the floral designs to create pieces of artwork to surround yourself with and hold in your hand.

By using colors that are somewhat analogous with the venue’s style—orange, red and purple—our design becomes an accentuation of the built environment, punctuated by the stark contrast of our bride in white. All of this is a contemporary expression of passion and strength fit for any love story.

The Art of texture

The dynamic use of texture is a key element in creating visual interest, especially when we are trying to design within a monochromatic or analogous wedding palette. Texture can create a sense of movement and depth and invite your guests deeper into the visual design of your wedding day. For the bouquets, we used a combination of European influence and dynamic texture and form. Each bouquet was a hand woven work of art; uniquely shaped and unlike anything seen before…nothing cookie-cutter here!

The Art of personal expression

The above bouquet showcases hand strung hyacinth blossoms for a striking modern take of a cascade. Below an arm spray is color blocked using vibrant colors and textural florals.

Personal flowers—bouquets, boas, corsages, boutonnieres—are a fantastic way to infuse art into your wedding day, whether it is sashaying down the aisle with a flower boa or selecting a bouquet of flowers that is so unique that not even Google has it as a key search term.

Also, unlike ceremony arrangements and structures, personal flowers do not have to mirror anything other than Y-O-U! While the bouquets in this photoshoot may be considered artwork, the goal was not to “like” or “dislike” them. The goal of these bouquets were to be conversation starters. Belli Fiori wanted to showcase something not seen before as well as showcase the talent of our design team. Hopefully, these photos will allow a spark of creativity to begin and creative juices to start flowing.

Photoshoots are fantasy. Photoshoots are an opportunity to think outside-the-box. Photoshoots are a creative outlet for our amazing St. Louis vendor team to turn ideas into reality. Now, replace the word “Photoshoots” with “Weddings” You see…..both are very much the same. Love is an art. So let your wedding day be a unique expression of the art between you and your beloved.
